Manual Machine Operator (Georgia)
NOTE: This job opening is located in Commerce, GA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Perform work in the rotor cell as needed, including deburring of rotors.
- Set-up manual mill and lathe machines to manufacture production parts to blueprint specifications using proper inspection equipment and machining practices including turning, facing, drilling, tapping, boring and threading.
- Gauge and maintain quality parts throughout the machining process. Maintain quality standards for production parts according to written quality procedures and other production quality procedures.
- Maintain accurate parts count and data integrity by clocking in and out properly on data computer collection system.
- Mark or tag identifying material for stock items and prepare necessary paperwork for proper routing of materials.
- Conduct minor repairs and maintenance to cutting tools during production processes.
- Follow and adhere to company safety policies, procedures, and practices. Maintain good housekeeping and safe working environment.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This position requires the following skillset:
- One year of experience with manual lathe and milling machines and conventional turning equipment.
- Able to read, use and/or interpret blueprints, micrometers, dial indicators, O.D. gauges and vernier calipers to check and maintain work quality.
- Responsible for purchasing appropriate basic precision measuring instruments and hand tools upon completion of 90-day introductory period.
- Flexible team member. Communicates effectively with supervisors and managers.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, airborne particles, lubricating airborne chemicals, and heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
