Operations Manager

SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for all aspects of the Company’s operations activities and conversion (calibration lab, electronics and machining). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, meeting shipping goals (including department metrics such as Gross Margin, On Time Delivery, Warranty, Scrap, and cost reduction), and scheduling within the financial constraints of the company while maintaining quality standards. The Operations Manager is also responsible for the Facility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Define and execute the operations strategy.
  • Meet quarterly revenue goals.
  • Meet or exceed On-Time-Delivery (OTD) goals (OTD to customer & OTD to commit date).
  • Meet and reduce lead times.
  • Minimizing workflow errors (maximize first-pass yields).
  • Design, develop, and implement robust systems to support shipping a quality product and supporting growth through the implementation of routers, work instructions policies, and procedures.
  • Install a quality (5S) and disciplined approach to operations activities.
    Effective product transfer from development engineering, through production, to the customer.
  • Effectively communicate to the team performance, progress against group goals & objectives, as well as, company goals & objectives.
  • Maintain the Operations dashboard (daily update) and run the daily operations meeting.
  • Complete projects that are assigned in support of the Company’s strategic initiatives.
  • With both Quality & Engineering personnel, resolve problems such as quality, parts or any other issue affecting production.
  • Provide a quality product that meets customer requirements and expectations.
  • Implement cost reduction & efficiency programs that are consistent with corporate goals.
  • Work with Engineering in specifying new purchase products and/or vendors, should be familiar with general manufacturing concepts.
  • Conduct employee training as needed and maintain the Core Boards
  • Generate and administer required performance reviews.
  • Generating and approving purchase requisitions for all items required by Operations.
  • Approve Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Material Review Board (MRB) dispositions of products.
  • Approve vacation requests and employee timesheets.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position oversees Operations and is responsible for setting priorities, objectives and schedules.

Must be an excellent communicator with the ability to effectively present information, write reports, analyze data, and plan accordingly. Comfortable working at both the strategic and tactical levels. Fluent in operating, extracting, and analyzing data from ERP systems. Ability to analyze problem situations, and develop and implement solutions. High level of technical/engineering competence. Ability to interpret and communicate a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) with a minimum of five years of supervisory and or managerial experience in an electromechanical manufacturing environment. Must have an excellent command of Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel. Should have experience in a job shop environment as opposed to high-volume production. Must have a “can do” attitude and be able to handle many diverse products at one time. Quality experience is a plus.
